That Tuesday when the mortar mix was off and I had to tear out three rows of brick by lunch
The supplier sent a bad batch of lime that made the mortar crumble instead of set, so after spending four hours laying that wall I spent the rest of the day scraping off half-cured mud and redoing it, and I'm wondering if anyone else keeps a spare bag of their own mix on the truck for emergencies.

Tbh I gotta push back on that. "Everything's just a little bit off" sounds like you're looking for reasons to complain when really you just need to double check your own work. That post about the bad mortar mix is a perfect example. The guy said the supplier sent bad lime. But honestly if you're doing brickwork long enough you know to test a small batch before you lay three rows. That's on him for not catching it sooner, not some sign the world's falling apart. Ngl people jump to this "everything is wrong" mindset way too fast instead of admitting they skipped a step or got lazy. Keep a spare bag on the truck sure, but also keep your standards up instead of blaming the universe.

Does it ever feel like everything's just a little bit off these days? Like even the stuff you've done a hundred times needs a backup plan now.
