That $60 mortar mixer attachment I never use
Bought a mortar mixer attachment for my drill about 2 years ago thinking it would save me time on small jobs. Used it once on a backyard wall project and it barely mixed half a batch before the coupler started slipping. Ended up mixing by hand in a wheelbarrow anyway like always. $60 down the drain and it's been sitting in my garage ever since. Anybody else fall for a tool that looked good in the ad but was useless on site?

Barely mixed half a batch before the coupler started slipping" is probably the real issue here honestly. Those cheap universal couplers are basically junk on anything bigger than a paint mixer, and most mortar attachments need a proper threaded connection to stay put. I learned that one the hard way too after my first one stripped out on the second bag lol. If the coupler had been steel and actually locked in right that thing might have worked decent for small batches. Live and learn though, $60 is a pretty cheap lesson compared to some tool mistakes I've made.

500lb mixer with a 3/8" shaft is gonna spin that coupler loose no matter what you do. @gavinwood is right about undersized motors being the real root cause, but a good threaded adapter would at least buy you some time before it lets go. Honestly, even a steel keyed coupler won't save you if the motor is just too small for the job.
