Showerthought: That job in Phoenix last July where the mortar kept setting up in 10 minutes flat.
I had to start mixing half batches and wetting everything down constantly, so has anyone found a better summer mix or additive for extreme heat?

Yeah, that half-batch trick is a lifesaver... we started using those big insulated coolers to mix in, keeps it workable a bit longer.

Oh man, @danieljenkins, you're so right about the coolers. I tried that last summer when I was doing my patio. Mixing a full bag in the wheelbarrow was a race against time, but a cooler gave me a solid extra twenty minutes. It was the difference between a smooth finish and a chunky mess. That half-batch trick saved my back, too.
