Serious question, does anyone else run their corner poles dry instead of wet? I switched last month after 14 years

Ran wet poles my whole career. Figured it was just how it's done. Then a guy on a job in Dayton showed me his dry stack on a garden wall and the joints looked cleaner than mine. I tried it on a small retaining wall out back and the mortar squeezed out way more even. Now I'm second guessing every pole I've ever set. What are you all doing on long runs?
