Rant: The brickwork on that new library downtown is a total mess
I was walking past the new public library on Main Street yesterday and had to stop and stare. The soldier course above the main entrance is completely out of whack, like the mason was rushing or something. The joints are all different sizes, some are over half an inch thick while others are barely a quarter. It looks so sloppy from the street, especially on a public building that cost who knows how much. I don't get how a crew lets that pass inspection. Has anyone else seen a job go up recently where the quality control just wasn't there?

Oh man I read something about that exact thing. There was this article I skimmed the other day talking about how the county's been using a different concrete mix that's supposed to be more weather resistant but it's definitely a lighter shade. Like noticeably lighter than the old stuff they used down at the library parking lot. I guess they're testing it out on the rec center first before they use it on the big road projects. Kinda funny how they didn't tell anyone though now everyone's wondering if it's a different material altogether.
