PSA: telling a new guy to "just watch" on a scaffold is how we lose people
Last Tuesday on a 3 story job in Akron, a 19 year old kid named Marcus spent his first day just watching me lay block because the lead told him that's how you learn. I handed him a trowel after lunch and let him butter 40 blocks himself, and by Friday he was faster than a guy who has been on the crew 2 years. Why do so many crews still think standing around is training when actually touching the mud is what teaches your hands?
