Noticed a huge difference in my brick joints after I switched to a 3/8 inch trowel 2 years ago

I used to fight with fat mortar lines and messy cleanup until I made that one change at a job in Austin and the walls started looking crisp and consistent, anyone else find a simple tool swap that just clicked?

3/8 is way too small for anything but tile work.

Fiona's got a point, 3/8 inch drywall on a ceiling and you're asking for trouble. I tried that once in a tiny bathroom and the whole thing sagged like a bad mattress by spring. Just save yourself the headache and step up to 1/2 inch for anything that's not a backsplash.
