My $200 "professional" mortar mixer overheated on the first job in Phoenix
I bought this thing from a supply shop based on good reviews. First hot day here in Phoenix, temp hit 108, and after about 40 minutes of mixing the motor just stopped. Smelled like burning. Now I'm back to hand mixing for small jobs. Anyone else had a power mixer die on them in the heat?

Ngl @lily_sullivan82, cheap motors die anywhere actually, not just the desert.

Those cheaper electric motors just aren't built for desert heat. The internal thermal protection kicks in way too late and by then the windings are already cooking. You might want to look into a gas powered mixer if this is going to be a regular thing out here.
