Leveling mortar gone wrong, 3 days to fix a 4 foot wall

Tbh I thought I had my line level spot on, but the bubble was off by a hair and the whole 4 foot section came out with a dip. Took me 3 days to chip it all out and re-lay because the mortar had already set hard. I keep telling guys to double check with a string line, but they never listen until they see the flood light hit it at dusk. Has anyone else had a small bubble mistake turn into a weekend project?

Flip it around and check the floor before you ever pull out the level. A lot of the time that dip comes from the slab or the footing being off, not the bubble. I've seen guys chase their line all day when the concrete underneath had a low spot of almost a quarter inch. Throw a straight edge down first and mark the high points. That'll save you the headache of setting a perfect level on top of something that ain't. Then pull your string line tight and measure down from it at both ends and the middle. Cheap insurance that takes five minutes.
