Hot take: the new mortar mix at my supply yard is giving me fits

I've been laying brick for about 12 years now, and last Tuesday I picked up a pallet of that new pre-blended mortar from the place off Highway 17. Mixed it up like I always do, same water ratio, same technique, but the stuff wouldn't hold a bead worth a darn. By Wednesday afternoon, I had a whole wall on a garage in Greenville that looked like it was sweating sand. I called the yard and they said it's a new formula they're testing, but nobody warned me before I bought it. Now I'm stuck with half a pallet and a customer who's giving me the side eye about the finished product. Has anyone else run into trouble with these new pre-mixes, or is it just my luck?

Man, that sounds like a real headache-I feel for you dealing with that sweat mess and a crabby customer.

My buddy Jake had basically the same thing happen at a diner last month. Some guy yelled at him for ten minutes because his eggs were "too wet" even though the cook said he ordered them over easy.
