The post just says the guy almost lost a finger, not that he was being careless. Sometimes bad luck happens even when you do everything right. Mortar joints can be tricky, especially in Phoenix heat where things dry fast and get brittle. Calling him careless feels like a stretch without knowing what actually happened. Everyone makes mistakes or has close calls on job sites, it's part of the work. Maybe give the guy some benefit of the doubt.
