Update: The new library sign in my town is a branding mess

I was at the public library in Oakwood last week and noticed they put up a new sign. It has four different fonts and the colors don't match the building at all. The logo is so small you can't see it from the street. They probably spent a few thousand dollars on it, but it looks cheap and confusing. It's a good example of how too many design choices can ruin a simple brand. Has anyone else seen a public building with a sign that just doesn't work?

You ever see a sign that looks like it was designed by a committee where everyone got to pick one element? My local rec center has a logo that's half a leaf, half a basketball, in three clashing colors. The font looks like it's from a western movie. It's so busy trying to be everything that it just ends up looking like a confusing clipart collage. I feel like they spent all the budget on a fancy 3D render and then printed it on the cheapest vinyl banner.

See this all the time with city projects trying to please everyone at once.
