The rebrand my local diner did removes all the charm in Grand Rapids

A place I eat at weekly, Rosie's, got bought out and they changed the logo to this clean sans-serif wordmark. The old script with the coffee cup steam was dated but it felt warm, now the new style looks like a generic app icon. They also repainted the sign from bright yellow to this muted gray, and I didn't realize how much that color pulled me in until it was gone. I asked the owner why and he said they wanted to appeal to younger people, but honestly it just feels sterile and I've cut my visits to once a month. Has anyone seen a rebrand kill the vibe of a spot they loved, and did the place ever bounce back?

Next they'll be serving the coffee in those little paper cups from gas stations. Nothing says "young people" like gray walls and a logo that looks like a tax app.
