The old John Deere logo change nobody talks about

I was looking at some vintage tractor ads from the 60s and noticed the John Deere logo was way different back then. The leaping deer looked more detailed, almost hand drawn, and the wordmark was real thin and tall. Now it's this bold, flat badge style that they put on everything from hats to lawn mowers. They made that switch gradually over the last 20 years or so, I think the big push was around 2000 when they started selling more gear to suburban folks. I get that it needs to scale down for small stuff like phone cases, but the old mark had character. The new one feels like it belongs on a credit card, not a tractor. Anyone else notice other farm brands that lost their rough edge to look corporate?

Man, I’m over here still trying to figure out how to change the oil on my own mower, so I probably shouldn’t be judging logos. But you’re right, that old deer looked like it was mid-leap off a cliff, now it’s just a sticker for a gym bag. Maybe that’s just what happens when your brand gets too big for the barn.
