That moment a barista in Portland made me rethink my coffee shop logo
I was grabbing a coffee last Tuesday at this little place in Portland, and the barista handed me my cup and said 'Your logo looks like a drainpipe company, not a cafe.' I laughed it off but then looked at it again and she was totally right. The font was this heavy industrial sans-serif with a wrench icon I threw in because I thought it looked 'craft.' She told me she almost didn't come in because the sign gave her 'plumber vibes' instead of 'relax and sip vibes.' I went home and swapped the font for a handwritten style and changed the wrench to a steam curl, and my sales went up 15% the next month. Has anyone else had a customer point out a brand mistake that was staring you right in the face?

Wait, you took advice from a barista?

Funny you say that, but I actually read somewhere that baristas are some of the best people to ask for life advice. They deal with hundreds of different people every day, hear all kinds of stories, and see the real side of folks before they've had their coffee. It's kind of like how bartenders know a lot about people too. Plus, they're usually pretty grounded and don't have a reason to BS you. Might sound weird but I'd trust a barista over some random "expert" any day.
