Spent $80 on a font license and it saved my whole rebrand
I was redoing a local cafe's logo and the free font I picked just looked cheap, like a default Word doc. Paid for a proper license to a nicer typeface and suddenly the whole brand felt premium and intentional. Anyone else had a small spend make a huge difference like that?

Honestly, it's just a font though. Tbh most people won't even notice the difference between a free one and an $80 one. I've seen plenty of cafes do just fine with basic stuff. Feels like designers make a bigger deal out of this than normal people.

Yeah, I get that. My buddy's bakery used a free font for years. Then he switched to a paid one for his new sign. Got way more compliments. People notice more than you'd think.

People notice more than you'd think" is spot on, but the bigger win is how it makes the people working there feel about themselves. When a cafe owner or employee sees that intentional detail every day, it builds their own pride in the business. That confidence shows up in how they talk to customers and the whole vibe of the place.
