Spent 3 years overcomplicating my logo grids before a mentor pointed it out

I was sitting in a Starbucks in Santa Monica last Tuesday showing this guy my portfolio and he asked why I had 17 anchor points on a circle. Turns out I was adding unnecessary curves trying to make things look 'organic' when simple shapes read way better at small sizes. Anyone else realize late that you're just doing extra work for no reason?

17 anchor points? At that point it's a not a circle, it's a nervous breakdown.

You know, I actually used to think more anchor points meant more control and better results. But after seeing a designer strip a logo down to just a few points and it looked ten times cleaner, it totally clicked for me.
