Rant: That rebrand at the local coffee chain made me walk out

So there's this coffee spot near my place in Portland, been going there for 3 years. Last month they rebranded, new logo, new cups, new colors. I figured it'd be a fresh look, maybe a new font, no big deal. But they changed the whole vibe, the old logo was this warm hand-drawn mug, now it's this cold geometric shape that looks like a wifi icon. And the packaging went from matte brown to glossy neon orange. I walked in last Tuesday and honestly couldn't find my usual order on the menu board because the layout was so different. It feels like they traded their personality for a template. Has anyone else had a local favorite lose what made it special after a rebrand, or is it just me? What's the line between refreshing and erasing?
