PSA: spent 3 weeks trying to fix my client's "boring" logo, turned out they just needed their tagline moved 8 pixels to the left
Client in Tucson kept saying their logo felt "flat and forgettable" so I redid the whole mark, tried 14 versions, new typeface, the works, and they hated all of them. On a whim I nudged the tagline from centered under the icon to left aligned with the icon's edge and suddenly everyone in the room went "oh THAT's it." So here's my debate: was I an idiot for not trying layout first, or is the real problem that clients describe spacing issues with words like "feels dead" and we're supposed to read their minds?
