Old logo debate with a printer in Nashville stuck with me

Back in 2019 I was at this small shop in Nashville getting business cards done and the printer dude pointed at my logo and said "that gradient is gonna look like mud in print." He spent 10 minutes showing me how to simplify it into two flat colors. Has anyone else had a random expert totally change how you see your own branding?

And that painter was probably right too. Had a guy who did vinyl wraps for my truck stop by my rig one time and point out every little thing wrong with my company's color combo. He walked me through how the blues on my door panel would look like a bruise from ten feet away. Sure enough I repainted it and he was dead on.

Honestly I used to think I knew what looked good on a screen and that was enough. But after a sign guy broke down how my logo would actually print on a vinyl banner I realized I had no clue about real world application. He showed me how these tiny details I thought mattered would just get lost or look messy from a distance. Definitely changed my whole approach to trusting people who actually work with the materials.

Same thing happened with my sign painter last year.
