My client in Seattle said our logo looked like a 'sad, deflated balloon' and I had to scrap the whole concept.

We were three weeks into the project and had to go back to the mood board because that one piece of feedback made me see the overly soft, rounded shapes in a totally new light, so has anyone else had a client critique that completely flipped your design direction?

Three weeks in and they called it a deflated balloon? That's a brutal way to get that kind of feedback. It's amazing how one simple phrase can make you see every flaw you were blind to before. Had a client tell me a layout looked like a ransom note once, and I had the same instant flip in perspective. Those blunt comments really do stick with you.

Ransom note" is such a perfect, awful way to put it. My boss once told me my charting looked like it was done by a drunk raccoon, and I never made the same mistakes again. Those lines really do burrow into your brain forever.

A professor once said my essay read like a fever dream, and I still think about it years later. Those sharp lines really do cut through everything else.
