I was in an old hardware store in Portland and their hand-painted sign from the 70s still works better than most new logos.
The faded lettering and simple hammer icon feel honest and clear in a way that makes me wonder if we overcomplicate things now, so what's a brand you've seen that nails that kind of timeless simplicity?

The old Levi's red tab. Just the name on a patch, still says everything.

Totally agree. Always liked the old Woolrich logo, just a simple red plaid rectangle with the name. Gets the point across without any fuss.

Oh man, Ngl @jennyt83 you're so right about that Woolrich logo! I still have an old jacket from my grandpa that's got that exact red plaid patch on the sleeve, and it's the best part honestly. Same deal with the old Schott Perfecto tag, just a simple leather rectangle with the name stamped in, no flashy graphics or weird fonts. Tbh it's like companies forgot that less is more when they started overcomplicating everything. I'd take that old school look over some weird modern rebrand any day.
