I redid my bakery's menu boards with chalk markers instead of printed vinyl and the difference shocked me
Last month I finally got tired of paying $45 every time we changed a price at my bakery in Sacramento, so I switched from printed vinyl signs to plain chalk markers on a board. The vinyl ones were always a little gray and washed out under our lights, and customers kept asking if certain items were sold out because the print looked faded. The chalk version has real contrast, and honestly people started pointing at the board and talking about it. I did make one mistake though, I used a cheap set from the dollar store first and it ghosted so bad I had to scrub the whole board with vinegar. The $12 set from the art store holds up way better and wipes clean with a damp rag. Six weeks in and I've only spent that one time instead of three reprints. Has anyone else made the switch and found a sealer that keeps it from smudging when people bump the board?
