Hired a freelance designer for $500 logo vs ran it through a $50 AI logo generator - which one actually converts better?

Spent $500 on a proper branding package last month and the logo feels great but my sales barely budged, while a buddy used a cheap AI tool for a quick logo and his landing page conversions went up 15% - has anyone else seen fancy branding fall flat while ugly cheap stuff oddly works?

Man the timing of this is crazy because I just went through the exact same thing. Spent way too much on a polished logo from a designer with all these fancy mockups and it looked beautiful but did nothing for my sales. Then I threw together a goofy cartoon mascot logo in 10 minutes with a free tool and it actually got more clicks. I think people just relate to stuff that feels human and imperfect rather than corporate and perfect. Your buddy's cheap logo probably works better because it stands out as real and not trying too hard.
