A print shop guy in Cleveland talked me out of charging hourly for logo work, and my bank account paid for it
Back in March I met a guy named Ron who ran a small print shop in Cleveland, and he told me flat rate logo pricing was the only way to keep clients from nickel and diming you. Sounded smart, so I switched my whole setup to flat rates, 300 bucks for a full logo package, revisions included. Six months in I did the math and I was pulling about 8 dollars an hour on the messy ones, because a bakery logo went through 9 rounds of "can you just tweak the blue" and I never said no. Ron's advice worked great for HIM, turns out, because print clients already know what they want when they walk in, but design clients never do. So now I'm curious, does anybody here actually make flat rates work, or did you go back to hourly like me?
