Wish I listened to that old gardener about watering at noon

This guy at the community garden told me never to water in the afternoon sun, but I figured it was fine. Ended up scorching half my tomato plants last July and lost about 15 pounds of fruit.

honestly I've been watering at noon for years and my tomatoes are fine. maybe it depends on where you live or what kind of soil you have.

...and then the next day a squirrel dug up all my carrots so I guess timing was the least of my worries.
