The new 'desert garden' at the Tucson botanical center is a joke
Went there last weekend and the whole section is just a bunch of agaves and cacti they clearly overwatered. The prickly pear pads were all swollen and splitting, and half the ocotillos looked like they were about to rot at the base. It's a desert garden, not a swamp. Has anyone else seen a public garden mess up basic plant care that badly?

Did they at least put up a sign saying "oops, we drowned them"?

That is just painful to look at. Basic plant care should be the bare minimum for a public garden. Those ocotillos are probably a total loss, and it's such a waste. You can't just treat a desert like a regular flower bed. It feels like they spent all the money on the sign out front and forgot to hire someone who knows what they're doing. Really makes you wonder who's in charge over there.
