That exotic orchid starter pack cost me 90 bucks and a full winter

I bought one of those fancy orchid starter kits online with the moss and special pots, thought it would be easy. Turns out half the roots were already rotting under the packaging and I lost all three plants by January. Anyone else get burned by these pre-assembled kits, or is it just me?
