Shoutout to the guy who told me to stop watering my succulents every week
I used to water my jade plant every Sunday like clockwork. Some guy at a plant swap said I was drowning it and told me to wait until the leaves look wrinkled. I switched to checking the soil with my finger and only watering when it's bone dry. Now my jade has doubled in size since last spring. Has anyone else had a friend call them out on bad plant habits?

I have a friend who finally told me I was killing my pothos by keeping it in a dark corner. I thought low light meant no light. Turns out there is a big difference. It made me realize how many things we do in life based on bad information we just never question. Like how people overwater plants or overthink relationships or overwork themselves into burnout. Sometimes it takes one person saying something direct to make you stop and rethink everything. That one tip changed my whole approach to plants and honestly to a few other things too.

Oh man, this hit me hard because I did the exact same thing with my first snake plant. I had it in this dim hallway thinking "it's a low light plant, it'll be fine" and it just sat there looking sad for months. Then my sister came over and was like "that plant needs at least some indirect light, what are you doing?" and I felt so dumb. But you're right, it's not just plants. I used to think being busy all the time meant I was being productive, turns out I was just burning myself out for no reason. Sometimes you just need one person to say "hey, you're doing this wrong" and it unlocks this whole new way of seeing things. It's wild how many little lies we tell ourselves that just stick around until someone calls them out.
