Serious question, I saw a weird thing at the Portland Japanese Garden

I was there last month and noticed a bunch of people taking pictures of the moss, not the big maple trees. They were all crouched down with their phones. It made me think, are we missing the big picture by focusing on the small stuff? Has anyone else seen this kind of shift in what plant lovers pay attention to?

Oh man, that reminds me of the time I spent twenty minutes watching a single bee work on a flower in my yard. The big hydrangea bush was right there, but this little guy was just so focused. Maybe the small stuff is just easier to see up close?

Exactly, it's like the big picture can be too much to take in sometimes. A whole bush is just a blur of color, but one bee on one flower is a story you can follow. You start to notice its little legs, how it moves, the way it's covered in pollen. It makes you wonder what else we miss because we're looking at the whole field instead of the single blade of grass. There's probably a lot of beauty in those tiny, focused moments.

But it's just a bee doing bee stuff. Not exactly deep.
