Serious question, does anyone actually water from the bottom or is that just for seedlings?

I spent three years watering my indoor plants from the top, and last month I noticed my snake plant's soil was staying damp for two weeks straight. A friend at the farmers market in Asheville asked why I wasn't using a saucer soak method, and I felt foolish. I tried it on my pothos and spider plant, letting them sit in water for 30 minutes each, and the roots look healthier already. Am I behind the curve here, or do you folks mix watering styles based on the plant type?

So I just switched to saucer soaks last month too after my fern kept rotting from the top water, but now I'm paranoid I'm drowning the damn thing so I'm back to misting it like a psychopath. Honestly I think half this shit is just vibes and what your apartment's humidity feels like that week.
