PSA: That guy at the arboretum who called my gardening gloves 'rookie gear'
Last Saturday I was at the UC Davis arboretum repotting a cutting I brought from home. This older guy walks up, sees my basic fabric gloves, and says 'those will never last through a proper root division'. He hands me a pair of nitrile coated ones from his truck and shows me how to split a fern crown without tearing the roots. Been using them ever since. Has anyone else had a random stranger change how they approach a basic plant task?

Honestly have you tried the dipped cotton ones with the little rubber dots on the palm? Those are my go-to for anything involving wet soil or ferns.

Guess @riverk82 is trying to convert me into a gardening gear influencer. Those little rubber dots sound like they'd be great for picking up stray earthworms too. Might have to give up my barehanded approach and join the modern age.
