My fiddle leaf fig lost 9 leaves in 3 weeks and then bounced back, what gives?

I moved my fiddle leaf fig from the bedroom to the living room window in November and within 3 weeks it dropped 9 leaves, mostly the lower ones. Then I stopped watering it for 10 days and it sprouted two new leaves at the top. Was it the light change, the watering break, or something else that caused the recovery?

Nine leaves in three weeks would've sent me into full panic mode, I don't blame you for being confused. The lower leaves dropping really sounds like the move shocked it, especially going from a bedroom to a bright window in November when light gets weaker. But that 10 day watering break was probably the real lifesaver, fiddles hate wet feet and you might've been overcompensating for the new spot. I've seen mine drop leaves when I get too eager with the watering can during winter, they just sit there sulking. The new top growth is a good sign that it finally settled in, so I'd say keep doing what you're doing now. These trees are dramatic but they forgive you if you give them a little patience.
