Killed my fiddle leaf fig after one stupid mistake in Denver

I had this big fiddle leaf fig in my apartment near Cheesman Park that was doing great for about 8 months. Then I decided to move it closer to a south-facing window for more sun and within two weeks all the leaves turned brown and dropped. Turns out I was blasting it with direct afternoon light that was way too intense, and now I'm down to a sad stick with two tiny leaves left. Has anyone else messed up their plant placement like that and managed to bring one back from the brink?

Did you slowly move it over a few days or just plop it in the window?

Watching @tara345’s advice actually got me to rethink my whole setup. Always figured you had to ease plants into full sun or they’d burn, but this one took the direct window like a champ. Guess I was overthinking it, so now I just trust the plant more than my old habits.
