Dropped $85 on a variegated Monstera cutting in Seattle and it rotted in 10 days
I picked up a single node variegated Monstera albo cutting at a plant swap in Seattle for $85 back in March. The seller told me to root it in water and keep it warm, so I did exactly that on my kitchen counter. By day 10 the stem had turned to brown mush and the node was gone, no roots at all. I think the water was too cold at night and I never changed it, which probably let bacteria take over. Has anyone actually rooted one of these in sphagnum instead, and did it work better for you?
