Overheard a coworker call book cloth 'fancy duct tape', i still think about it

Last Tuesday at the shop, my apprentice pointed at my roll of buckram and said it's just fancy duct tape for paper. I laughed so hard I almost glued my fingers together with my own paste. Has anyone else heard a customer or friend totally dismiss what we do with a wild comparison like that?

People really don't get the craft, man. I had a customer once watch me hand-stitch a spine and say "couldn't you just staple it faster?" It stung a little. But honestly, your apprentice's line is almost too good to be mad about. I'm still gonna use it.
