Can we talk about how I changed the way I cut boards after a mishap at my bench in Austin?

For years I would measure and cut each board one at a time on my little guillotine, and last month I ruined an $80 sheet of goat vellum because two boards came out a millimeter off and the text block sat crooked. A guy at the Austin book arts meetup told me to cut all the boards for one book at the same setting before moving the fence, which sounds obvious but I never did it. Has anyone else switched to batching their cuts like this, and did you still get drift on thicker boards?
