Burned my fingers on a hot glue gun at the Boston Bindery meetup
I was at the Boston Bindery meetup last Saturday and watched someone demo a technique for spine rounding using a hammer. I got so into it I grabbed my glue gun without checking the stand and burned my index finger. Now I always keep a wet rag nearby when I'm working with hot materials. Anyone else had a workspace accident that made you change your setup?

Oh man, I feel your pain! I did the exact same thing at a book repair workshop last fall. Got so focused on watching someone line up a text block that I pressed my whole palm right onto a glue pot. Now I keep a bowl of cold water right next to my workstation at all times. It's crazy how fast you forget that stuff is dangerously hot when you're in the zone. I also started using those silicone finger guards and they've saved me a few times since then.

Wait, @nathang67 - are you sure those were silicone finger guards and not nitrile gloves? I ask because I accidentally grabbed a hot glue stick with silicone tips on and they melted right through. Your mileage may vary though, maybe I just got a cheap pair.
