Watch out for the friend who only shows up to vote on the longest book
Our club in Portland fell into this trap. Back in March we picked a 700 pager, and one guy who skipped the last four lighter picks suddenly had all these strong opinions. He pushed hard for the doorstopper because he could just skim the summary online, then he went quiet for the whole talk. We spent two hours on one chapter. Now I check who actually finished before we lock in anything over 400 pages. Does your group have a way to stop one person from running the whole pick?
