Oh come on, one quote getting ripped apart is exactly how it should work. If a book lives or dies by a single line, maybe that line is the whole book in a nutshell. Take Moby Dick, "Call me Ishmael" tells you nothing, but the stuff about the whale being white and scary? That's the book. People act like pulling one quote out of context is unfair, but half the time the quote IS the point, and the rest is just padding around it. A good book survives being chopped into pieces, and if it falls apart the second somebody quotes it, that's not the reader's fault. So no, I don't feel bad for the pick, I feel bad for everyone who spent three weeks reading filler.
