The library book sale in Boise had a whole table of books nobody in my club would finish
I stopped by the used book sale at the Boise library last Saturday and noticed something odd. There was a table near the back loaded with about 40 copies of the same three or four titles, all in great shape. The volunteer running it laughed and mentioned those were pushed by book clubs over the past two years that everyone bought and hardly anyone finished. It made me think about how our group keeps picking books from bestseller lists and then half of us quit by chapter five. Maybe the books that get read to the end are the ones people choose for themselves, not the ones with the shiny stickers. I'm curious what other clubs do to pick books that people actually finish, because our track record is not great.
