Stopped by a used bookstore in Austin and noticed something odd

I popped into this little place on South Congress last Saturday and saw three copies of the same bestseller from 2019, all with the same note scribbled in the margins. The notes disagreed with each other on page 47 about the main character's motive. Has anyone else found books with previous reader arguments written in them?

Found three arguing notes in a Dan Brown novel once. Felt like I was in their book club fight.

Found a copy of The Goldfinch once with two different readers arguing in pen about whether a character was a hero or a total jerk. Ended up sitting in the store for an hour reading both sides of the debate. Honestly made the book way more fun than reading it solo.
