Spent 45 minutes debating whether the butler did it, turns out the author just forgot to write the ending
My book club picked this thriller called The Hollow Man last month, and we were all set for a big reveal. We spent the first 30 minutes arguing about the butler's motive and who left the window open in chapter 12. Then someone pointed out the last chapter was only 3 pages long and literally nothing got resolved. We checked online and found out the author admitted in an interview he ran out of time and just submitted the draft as is. I was so mad I spent another 15 minutes trying to find a fan theory that made sense. Has anyone else read a book where the ending was basically a cliffhanger because the author gave up?

Was your book club annoyed enough to track down his publisher and complain about it?

Noticed people treat minor book mistakes like personal insults these days.
