Shoutout to my aunt's weekly book club from back in the day

We used to all sit in her living room and really get into it about the characters. Now my own club just texts short replies, and it feels like we miss the point. I miss those loud, personal talks.

Your aunt had people over to her house every single week for books? That kind of regular meet up sounds like a dream now. Most people I know can barely agree on a monthly zoom call, let alone showing up in person. What was her secret to getting everyone to commit like that?

That "dream now" feeling hits hard because digital plans lack physical weight. Showing up to someone's actual living room meant you were already bought in before the talk even started. The location itself forced a kind of care that a text thread just can't match.
