Rant: My book club argued for 45 minutes about whether the ending of 'Klara and the Sun' was hopeful or bleak

One member called it a 'beautiful tragedy' while another said it was 'quietly optimistic', and I'm still not sure which side I'm on. What's your take on that final scene?

Honestly that whole debate sounds like the point. My friend group still argues about the movie Inception, like a decade later. Some stories just leave you with that good kind of unsettled feeling.

Wait, ten years? You guys are still hashing out Inception? That's wild. I mean, I get the whole "did the top fall or not" thing, but a full decade of arguing? @oscarwilliams, you hearing this? I thought my buddy and I were bad for going back and forth about the ending of The Sopranos for a few years, but a decade is next level commitment. It must be a special kind of movie to keep a group of friends that fired up for that long. I'm almost jealous, my friend group can't agree on where to get pizza, let alone a movie ending. That's the kind of unsettled feeling that really sticks to your ribs, I guess.

Exactly! That's the mark of a great story. It sticks with you. Makes you talk about it for years.
