Ran into my old book club moderator at Target yesterday

She mentioned our heated debate about 'The Plot' by Jean Hanff Korelitz from two years ago and how she still thinks about it. Said the biggest argument was whether the twist was fair or just lazy writing. It got me wondering if any book club debates have stuck with you guys long after you finished the book?

My friend Sarah's book club had a huge fight over "Where the Crawdads Sing" like three or four years ago. Half of them thought the ending was beautiful and the other half was convinced the author just made up a twist to shock everyone. She said they still bring it up sometimes when they're all hanging out and someone has had too much wine.

Oh man, my book club had the exact same blowup over that one.

Wait, @the_viola I think you mixed up the books - the "Crawdads" fight was real but the actual blowup at my club was over "The Midnight Library" where half the people thought it was deep and the other half said it was just a shallow "what if" story. Different book, same kinda drama though.
