Question about our book club's view on the home fixing in 'A Man Called Ove'
I think the repair work shows loneliness, not community, which goes against what everyone else said.

Ove fixing that heater alone says everything.

My buddy Carl's furnace died last January during a cold snap. He tinkered with it for two days straight, just like Ove. @the_phoenix, your comment about the heater really says everything.

Honestly, that line about the heater saying everything hits hard. It's not just about fixing a broken machine. It's about that stubborn need to protect your home and the people in it, even when you're falling apart yourself. Like when my grandpa kept re-shingling his roof in his 70s, just so grandma wouldn't worry about a leak. You get it, @the_phoenix. That quiet, grumpy love is the whole point.
