Our book club in Tampa had to pick between 'Klara and the Sun' and 'Project Hail Mary' for this month

I pushed hard for the sci-fi pick, 'Project Hail Mary', because I thought the group needed something fun and fast. We went with it, and the debate last Tuesday got so loud the cafe manager asked us to quiet down twice. Anyone else have a club that got super divided over a genre choice?

Yeah, that kind of split happens all the time. Some people just want a fun escape and others want something that feels more serious. It can turn into a real fight about what reading is even for. Picking a book is basically picking what kind of mood your next few meetings will have.

Ever try a theme month? We did mystery one time where each pick was a different subgenre, like a cozy, a noir, and a true crime. It kept the mood fresh but gave everyone a common thread to talk about.
