My book club pick crashed and burned, then saved our meetings
Last month I chose a dense sci-fi novel for our group and it flopped hard. 9 of 12 people didn't finish it by our meetup in Portland. Instead of forcing a discussion, I asked everyone to share just one line they hated or loved. That 20 minute detour turned into our best chat all year. Now I'm picking shorter books under 250 pages for the next 3 months. Has anyone else salvaged a bad pick by ditching the planned questions?
