My book club hated 'The Midnight Library' so much we spent 45 minutes arguing about alternate timelines

After 3 years of loving every Reese Witherspoon pick, I changed my mind about that book once Karen in accounting pointed out that Nora's choices conveniently skipped over any consequences like student loan debt or chronic illness.

Karen's right though, the book totally glossed over real life stuff like bills and health problems.

Karen might be onto something, but at the end of the day it's a feel-good book about second chances not a financial planning seminar. My book club spent 20 minutes debating the logistics of the library itself before someone pointed out we were overthinking a magic book about regret. @riley595 I get the frustration but if every alternate timeline had to include her student loan payments it would be a 800 page slog about tax returns. Sometimes a story just wants to make you feel warm and fuzzy even if it skips the boring stuff.
